IRYOΣ
Chaos, Care, and the Future of Life

(ダミー空白)

■ Origin of IRYOΣ
The name of this site, IRYOΣ (Ilios), is a coined term combining “IRYOU” (the Japanese word for medical care) with the Greek letter Σ (Sigma).
Sigma (Σ) symbolizes summation, totality, and bundles of yet-undefined relationships.
This name embodies our intent to reframe the practices of medicine and care not as a mere collection of parts, but as a dynamic and complex whole.
IRYOΣ is a space for interdisciplinary exploration and shared practice, guided by chaos theory and complexity science, to engage with the lived realities of life—marked by individuality and uncertainty—and to approach the essential nature of medicine and care.

■ Purpose and Vision of IRYOΣ
All human actions carry implicit premises and intentions.
The birth of new concepts transforms how we perceive phenomena, expanding the horizons of understanding.
Such creative moments often lie dormant in encounters with other disciplines and in concrete, lived events.
IRYOΣ was conceived to go beyond existing frameworks of “medical care” or “medicine,”
offering a new perspective on life and care.
At its core breathes a unique philosophy and methodology—one that responds to the complexity of human existence.
Contemporary medicine, nursing, and social welfare are largely centered on Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM), placing emphasis on measurable data.
However, life cannot be reduced to simple causality; it undergoes continuous, nonlinear transformations over time.
From a chaotic perspective, hidden structures and dynamics begin to emerge.
Human health, too, contains orderly fluctuations (“yuragi”), whose nonlinear properties have been observed across many domains.
IRYOΣ stands on the foundation of homeodynamics—a dynamic understanding of health— and aspires to become an experimental space of knowledge for imagining new possibilities in medicine, nursing, and care.
